Park FC beat Luzira to win 2023/24 Futsal Uganda Cup

Park FC clinched the 2023/24 Futsal Uganda Cup with a thrilling 8-6 victory over FC Luzira in an enthralling final held at the Old Kampala Futsal Arena on Friday night.

In their quest for their maiden cup title, Alex Ssegawa’s squad made an explosive start, netting three quick goals courtesy of Michael Abura’s fantastic strike, followed by goals from Samuel Kalyango and Abasi Muluya.

Although Luzira managed to pull one back through top scorer Ogwang Joel, Park extended their lead to 5-1 by halftime, thanks to two goals from Derrick Walugembe.

The second half saw Muluya complete his brace, but Luzira responded swiftly with goals from Omara Samuel and Ogwang, narrowing the gap to 6-3. Despite Muluya securing his hat-trick and Park’s seventh goal, Luzira staged a remarkable comeback, scoring three quick goals to make it 7-6 with less than two minutes remaining.

In a nail-biting finish, Abura secured Park’s victory with a crucial strike, sealing their triumph as the fourth winners of the competition, following Luzira Thunders (2017/18), Dream Team (2018/19), and Yeak Kabowa (2019/20).

Following their Uganda Cup success, Park now aims for a double, leading the BetPawa Futsal Super League as they head into the second round starting this Thursday.

Luzira meanwhile, sit second on the league log and trail Park by seven points
