Football Club Luzira claimed the lead in the 2023/24 betPawa Futsal Super League on Thursday night, dominating Mengo City 7-0 at Old Kampala Futsal Arena in their eighth match of the season.
Starting in second place with 18 points, Luzira needed a win to match leaders Park FC’s points, and they achieved that in style. Captain Joshua Aziku scored twice, with Samuel Omara, Vincent Abigaba, Arafat Sentongo, and Ivan Alioni each contributing a goal.
This victory marks Luzira’s seventh win in the first eight games of the season. In contrast, Mengo City now trails the top by 11 points after this significant loss, marking their fourth defeat of the season.
Before Luzira’s game, Kisenyi FC faced a surprising 4-0 defeat to Nansana ASKA. Hussein Dahir Zackaria scored three goals, while Mugenyi Abdulswabur added one.

With this loss, Kisenyi remain third on the table with 15 points, having lost their last two games.
Also securing 15 points are ASKA and Lubaga Grameen, the latter winning convincingly against Aidenal 8-2 on Thursday. League’s top scorer Michael Lubowa completed a hat-trick in that match.

Matchday eight concludes on Friday evening with three games. Park FC aims to reclaim the top spot against pointless Kawempe FC, while Kampala Junior Team (KJT) hosts Edgars Youth Programme. The other match features Kisugu battling Kabowa Dream Team.
